Job Overview

The role of the Global Carbon Accounting and LCA Expert will highly contribute to and drive the organization's sustainability efforts by combining expertise in environmental life cycle assessment and corporate carbon accounting. This position focuses on developing processes and capabilities across the organization relevant to carbon accounting, conducting robust analyses, ensuring compliance with global standards, and delivering actionable insights to support decision-making across the company.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Lead Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs): Develop and execute comprehensive LCAs for SHL products and processes, providing recommendations to reduce environmental impact.
  2. Cyber-Physical Systems and Tools: Conduct detailed LCAs using recognized tools and databases (e.g., SimaPro, GaBi, OpenLCA), elaborate ISO-compliant reports, and manage third-party validation.
  3. Emissions Inventory Management: Develop and maintain GHG emissions inventories and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to leverage data maturity.
  4. Integrating Sustainability into Decision-Making: Work cross-functionally with product development, supply chain, and operations to integrate LCA insights into decision-making.
  5. Stakeholder Training and Support: Train internal stakeholders on LCA and carbon accounting fundamentals to build organizational knowledge.
  6. Subject Matter Expertise: Act as a subject-matter expert by providing guidance to internal teams and external partners on LCA matters.

Minimum Requirements

  1. 5+ Years' Experience in Corporate Sustainability: Proven track record in corporate experience in this field.
  2. LCA Tools and Frameworks: Advanced knowledge of LCA tools (e.g., SimaPro, GaBi, OpenLCA) and carbon accounting frameworks and standards (GHG Protocol, ISO 14067, ISO 14044).
  3. Project Management and Organization: Strong project management and organizational abilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  4. Data Analysis and Communication: Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel).
  5. Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  6. Education: Bachelor or master's in environmental science, engineering, or other related fields involving environmental impact assessment and LCA.
