Janssen Research & Development, LLC., is recruiting for a Contract Leader in the Strategy & Operations office of the Cardiovascular, Metabolism, Retina, and Pulmonary Hypertension (CVMR&PH) Therapeutic Area in **Allshwil, Basel (Switzerland) **; or Remote work options may be considered on a case-by-case basis and if approved by the Company.

The Contract Leader reports into the Associate Director of Contract Management for the CVMR & PH TA and will serve as a key partner to the Associate to develop and shape the future operating model for the team, ensuring similar service and support is offered to all partners across the CVMR&PH R&D business, while working to support cross-TA and cross-functional initiatives to gain process efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:

- Interface with business partners across the CVMR&PH R&D organization to understand business needs and their strategic fit within the organization and facilitate the submission, development, and execution of the contract to appropriately adapt to the business and policy needs.
- Liaise closely with Finance, Procurement, Legal, HCC, and other functional partners to execute necessary processes and initiate, support, and close-out HCP-related business engagements.
- Drive negotiation of contracts to completion while meeting both business needs and Janssen policies.
- Monitor purchase order (PO) funding, contract renewals, and termination dates to lead contract life-cycle management and troubleshooting.
- Interface directly with external Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and/or Suppliers to complete required contract process from initiation through payment, including the creation of payment requests.
- Processing of payments due for developmental milestones reached with assets under co-development with other Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology companies.
- Identify, escalate, and resolve process gaps and lead contract process improvement initiatives (including routine collaboration with functional partners).
- Assist with developing and delivering training for the Contract Management team and support/train business partners across the CVMR&PH R&D organization regarding operational execution of contracting processes.
- Provide analytics/metrics for the full complement of portfolio contracts and support continuous improvement projects.
- Pro-actively communicate and act as role model regarding adherence to business process requirements.
- Assist with talent identification, interviewing, and training of colleagues within Contract Management team, and subsequently provide leadership/mentorship.
- Provide guidance to the business teams on necessary steps and justifications required to successfully place a request into HCC systems (e.g., Totality/Request Navigator) and guide such through approval.
- Liaise closely with applicable HCC experts to ensure compliance with requirements and provide feedback to business to contribute to transparency in reporting requirements
- Partner and collaborate closely with Legal, Finance, and Procurement partners to effectuate the HCP-contractual needs of the TA, including routine troubleshooting, escalation, and facilitating discussions to seek resolution.

- BSc / BA (required)

Experience and Skills:
Required:

- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the global Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology or Medical Device/Diagnostics industry or an institution that participates in pharmaceutical/ Healthcare research.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with sourcing, procurement, and/or contracting group.
- Knowledge and understanding of legal/contract negotiation process, laws, and regulatory environment in pharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrated experience in managing high-volume workload, prioritization, and tracking escalations.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with, influence, and convince stakeholders at all levels of hierarchy, regardless of authority.
- Ability to work effectively independently and collaborate in a team environment.
- Excellent knowledge of standard office software (e.g., Outlook, MS office, etc.,) and other computer systems and technologies (e.g., Zoom/WebEx, SharePoint, etc).
- Ability and willingness to work in a global matrix environment with cross-functional, international teams.

Preferred:

- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with HCP/Healthcare Organizations (HCOs).
- Familiarity with payment processes.
- Business finance acumen and experience with reviewing a processing invoices/POs.
