Information Systems Assistant

This position is located in the Division of Administration, Information and Communication Technology Service, Infrastructure Management Unit. The incumbent will report to the chief of the Unified Communications team within the Service Delivery unit.
**Responsibilities**:
Within delegated authority, the Information Systems Assistant (Unified Communications and Collaboration Technician) will be responsible for the following duties:
- Installs, configures and assists in testing and commissioning collaboration and telecommunication equipment (such as PBX/IP PBX systems, IP telephones, collaboration and teleconference systems and endpoints).
- Monitors, maintains and performs the daily operations of telecommunication systems and equipment.
- Conducts on-going analysis and troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions, ensures proper operations and maintains equipment inventory to meet operational needs of field and local offices. Gathers performance indicator data and reports on service levels.
- Acts as focal point for receipt and processing of user requests.
- Maintains regular contact with users and technical staff in user offices and provides support as required.
- Conducts research on new technologies as requested; keeps abreast of developments in the field; assists in testing and evaluating new products and technologies.
- Occasionally works outside regular business hours and on-call
- Performs other related duties as required.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Job - Specific Qualification
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) foundation certificate is desirable.
CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) training or certificate is desirable.
Formal training or certification in Voice and Collaboration technologies is desirable.
Information security (CompTIA Security+ or equivalent) certification is desirable.
Work Experience
At least five (5) years of experience in information systems analysis and programming, systems administration and maintenance, end-user support, technical writing or related area is required.
Hands-on experience with Cisco voice and video communication systems is desirable.
Hands-on experience with Cisco networking systems is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.
