The World Economic Forum (the Forum), committed to improving the state of the world, is the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation. The Forum engages the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

The Tropical Forest Alliance (TFA) is the leading global public-private-community partnership hosted by the Forum and dedicated to collaborative action to help producers, traders and buyers of forest-risk commodities achieve their commitments to deforestation-free supply chains.

Reporting Lines & Interactions

The Lead will also be expected to work closely with the regional TFA teams and other teams across the World Economic Forum.

Main responsibilities- Lead an active, thorough, ambitious and dynamic process that convenes, mobilizes and aggregates multi-stakeholders from consumer regions/countries such as Europe, UK and the US, as well as key producer countries in West and Central Africa, South East Asia, and South America- Manage private sector and NGO working groups in the context of upcoming regulatory processes in the EU and in the US. Ensure robust and trustworthy information gathering and exchange, and support members in high level advocacy via-a-vis government-led activities when relevant.- Help raise awareness of private sector readiness, action and support of ambitious regulatory action among target governments. Mobilize and further private sector advocacy in consumer regions in support of partnerships with producer countries to complement regulatory action.- Advise and coordinate with strategic partners (governments and/or multilateral organizations like FAO, UNDP, WTO, etc.) on effective multi-stakeholder processes in support of the development of policies that ensure sustainable supply chains- Build partnership and alignment between global and regional TFA teams and other partners’ regional teams to ensure the work is genuinely multi-nodal and cognizant of the realities and discussions in producer countries.- Project manage overall TFA Public Sector Engagement efforts, oversight of consultancies, achievement of project outcomes, and reporting to the grantor in collaboration with the Operations team.- Support the TFA Head of Public Sector Engagement as needed.

Requirements and experience- Master’s degree or equivalent- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in policy, public sector engagement or advocacy- Strong familiarity with the regulations being developed in the EU, US and UK on deforestation-free supply chains- Exceptional project and performance management skills- Established network among key individuals and organizations in relevant initiatives globally is desired- High standards of professionalism and integrity- Fluency in English with outstanding communication and writing skills. Other European and Asian languages are an asset.- Experience in soft commodity markets and/or land use and forestry, particularly in the tropics would be helpful. A passion for sustainability and public-private cooperation is a must
