This position is part of the Media, Entertainment, and Sport Platform, which brings together leaders from business, government, international organizations, academia and civil society to shape the global agenda on the most pressing problems facing the world including the future of the consumer internet, digital trust and safety, diversity, equity, and inclusion in media, and responsible development of technology.
Reporting lines and interactions
The Community Lead will report to the Head of Media, Entertainment and Sport Platform and will work with key stakeholders across the Forum, including the various Project Leads for the Metaverse and Digital Safety initiatives, alongside other platform heads and leads.
The Community Lead will get an opportunity to work closely with a broad range of external stakeholders, including businesses, governments, civil society, and international organisations.
Main responsibilities- Strengthen and expand the community of purpose to drive progress on work pertaining to the metaverse, including in areas of economic value creation, safety, privacy, interoperability, and governance- Identify, conduct outreach, and drive partnerships across early stage and high growth media and tech companies (across partnership levels, including Global Innovators, Global Innovator Unicorns, and Platform Partners) within the metaverse and digital safety areas- Deepen the engagement of existing partners into the workstreams/action tracks of the Metaverse and Digital Safety initiatives at the global and regional levels, ensuring delivery of value and impact to partners- Expand the reach and impact of the Metaverse and Digital Safety initiatives through the engagement of strategic priority partners that are in a position to contribute significantly to collective progress- Help drive collaboration between other private sector coalitions, platforms and initiatives- Interface with the World Economic Forum partner development and business engagement teams to ensure strong alignment with partner engagement across the Metaverse and Digital Safety work- Build relationships with senior representatives among leading companies, regulators, academics, civil society and government officials that are likely to hold influence over the metaverse ecosystem- Explore and highlight interlinkages between trends and stakeholders, using Forum communities and events to create value for partners and suggest ideas/methods for further exploration- Work with Forum teams and external experts to capture relevant knowledge for use in programming, insight products and partnership development
Preferred requirements and experience- Minimum of 8 years’ work experience in partner development, community management, business, strategy consulting-
- Master’s degree in a relevant field- Deep knowledge of the key actors building the metaverse and improving safety online- Proven capacity to manage strategic relationships and work collaboratively in a matrixed role- Experience with driving collaboration between diverse stakeholders and facilitating or supporting multi-stakeholder partnerships and processes- Excellent verbal and written language skills in English; verbal proficiency in other languages would be an asset
