Job Summary
The Biozentrum, University of Basel is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team in the field of Global History and Material Culture. The successful candidate will work on uncovering naturalist field practices by analyzing a selection of specimens with provenance from one of the geographical foci of the overall project.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct independent research and complete two peer-reviewed articles or book chapters within the funding period;
- Participate in advancing the project's overall research goals and collaborate closely with team members;
- Assist with administrative tasks, conference organization, communication, and webpage content management.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- PhD in Art History, Material Culture, or Museum Studies, or a related discipline;
- Fluency in English, with additional language proficiencies relevant to the work package welcome;
- Expertise in working with natural history specimens and practical skills with digital tools for handling museum collections;
- Experience working in mid-size research teams and ability to help shape the team's work culture and overall project goals.
Working Environment
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic research team at the Biozentrum, University of Basel, and will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from various disciplines, including Art History, Media Studies, and Cultural Anthropology.
