Meteorological Program Coordinator

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Meteorological Program Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Technical Coordination and GFCS Support Unit, you will be responsible for managing projects related to meteorology and climate change.
About the Role
This is a challenging opportunity to work on high-priority projects that contribute to the advancement of weather and climate science. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and project management skills, as well as experience working in a multicultural environment.
Main Responsibilities
The Meteorological Program Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Developing and mobilizing project resources;
- Management of projects, in accordance with expected outcomes and performance indicators;
- Communication and coordination with WMO management, partners, stakeholders, and other project teams;
- Preparation of work plans, with targets, expenditures, and deliverables; and tracking of outputs;
- Tracking and managing project expenditures in accordance with the project budget, as well as WMO rules and procedures, to ensure transparency, responsibility, and timely fulfilment of budget targets;
- Preparation and submission of project reports;
- Coordination of the work of consultants engaged in the project;
- Supervision of regular data collection and analysis, as well as reporting and, if applicable, public outreach;
- Provision of support during the project evaluations;
- Contribute to the Communication Plan, and update the plan as required;
- Carry out other relevant duties as required.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A Master's degree or equivalent in Climatology, Meteorology, business administration, management, or a related field;
- A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in programme management or project management with demonstrated experience in coordination and stakeholder engagement;
- Sense of integrity, responsibility, maturity of judgement, initiative, and creativity;
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to analyze, model, and interpret business operations data in support of decision-making;
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple workloads;
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to foster diversity and team spirit;
- Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.
