Payroll Manager Switzerland

The Payroll Manager position at CSL Behring is responsible for payroll processing and time management for a significant number of employees in our Swiss companies. The incumbent will report directly to the Head of EMEA Payroll and serve as the key point of contact and SME for the payrolls they support. They will work closely with Payroll Vendors and TLM Administrators to support the processing of payroll, providing all necessary payroll input, ensuring integrations are delivered, and validating data before it is transferred to the vendor. They will be accountable for responding to queries from the payroll vendor and investigating any anomalies identified through auditing. The Payroll Manager will work closely with the Global Payroll Process Lead to help identify process improvements related to their payrolls, document requirements, and support payroll testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures payrolls are processed accurately, on time, and in accordance with all federal, cantonal, local, and regulatory requirements.
- Manages and monitors Service Now queues, ensuring that the team adheres to askHR ticket management best practice and SLAs, identifies trends, and opportunities for process improvement. First point of escalation for all payroll and time-related matters, responds to complex employee queries.
- Interprets policies and regulations regarding leaves, disability, allowances, one-time payments, garnishments, etc., and works closely with payroll vendors to ensure they are applied through payroll and settled correctly.
- Identifies and works with the Global Payroll Process Lead to implement process improvements within assigned payrolls. These process improvement initiatives should take into account global best practice and be guided by global alignment where possible.
- Works with the Global Compliance & Audit Lead to provide support to any internal/external audit processes as required. Ensures any regular finance, compliance, and audit reporting is delivered as per agreed timescales. Leads audits and reconciliations of payroll data for their payrolls as required.
- Reviews payroll policies/procedures and ensures that the payroll calendars and processing schedules are consistent with organizational policies. Ensures all payroll compliance processes are adhered to, and payroll processing documentation is complete, up-to-date, and in line with global process expectations.
- Works with the Global Payroll Process Lead to define Payroll requirements related to payroll projects or enhancements. Performs User Acceptance Testing and documents results, ensures user guides are updated appropriately.
- Ensures that CSL Behring meets its compliance with all federal/cantonal, and regulatory requirements.
- Manages the BAU team activities and ensures the development of the team.
- Other Payroll-related activities as directed by the manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor's in HR/Accounting degree or Diploma in payroll is preferred.
- 6-8 years of experience in Swiss Payroll with processing end-to-end payroll and time management with more than 2000 employees total.
- Strong payroll team management, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Strong leadership and engagement.
- High-level analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Strong process management and business process analysis competencies and demonstrated ability to support complex HR/Payroll models.
