**Purpose of the job**:
Communications sits at the heart of what the BIS does. We seek to position the BIS in media and digital channels as an influential voice on central bank issues, including monetary policy, financial stability and innovation. By doing so we enable the Bank to build trust with stakeholders, broaden its global engagement and shape the future. We also drive the Bank’s internal communications to enable staff to connect to our purpose and strategy.
Leading a team of experts, you will be responsible for the governance, curation, measurement, and development of the BIS digital communication channels and social media content. You will have a key role in the development and implementation of the BIS Communications strategy, and be responsible for setting the strategic direction for the internal and external digital communication channels of the Bank, and help building a strong employer brand that attracts top talent to the Bank.
You will make an impact by leading and advising on digital campaigns to communicate the Bank’s perspective on important topics such as the global economy, financial innovation and green finance to an ever-increasing global audience.
BIS statistics, compiled in cooperation with central banks and other national authorities, are designed to inform analysis of financial stability. You will support their public dissemination and help making them more accessible for non-specialist audiences, by eg using modern tools like data visualisations, statistical dashboards and interactive charts.
You will work closely with an international and diverse team of highly-skilled communication specialists in a positive and stimulating working environment. You will have the opportunity to engage with colleagues across our global offices in Asia and the Americas as well as peers in the central banking community.
As part of the Communications leadership team, you will contribute to the development and general management of the wider Communication function.

You will also engage with BIS staff by supporting strategic internal communications initiatives.
**Principal accountabilities**:
- Advise Management and BIS business areas on digital communications and content strategy in particular about the effective use of digital channels.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for digital communications strategies and content development and publishing activities (including social media).
- Proactively advise on communications trends as well as innovation in technology and design.
- Lead and supervise the projects and ongoing development efforts needed to implement our digital communications strategy. Regularly assess customer needs and end-user behaviour and adjust strategies and plans accordingly.
- Provide key internal audiences with regular feedback on impact of communications via digital channels based on appropriate content metrics.
- Have overall responsibility for the BIS corporate identity across all channels.
- Support building a strong employer brand that attracts top talent to the Bank.
- Support the public dissemination of our unique BIS statistics and making them more accessible for non-specialist audiences, by eg using modern tools like data visualisations, statistical dashboards and interactive charts.
- Manage and develops the unit's relationships with business areas throughout the Bank, and counterparts in central banks and international institutions.
- Lead a team responsible for the creation, management and publishing of content across multiple channels. Recruit, develop and mentor staff, set objectives and manage performance.
**Qualifications, skills, and experience****:
- University degree in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrable experience in digital communication and content creation.
- Experience of leading, influencing, developing and motivating a team of communication professionals.
- Previous experience of working in international organisations or central banks ideally combined with a background with economics and finance.
- Strong customer orientation, coupled with knowledge of current best practice in corporate communications.
