**Purpose of the job**:
Communications sits at the heart of what the BIS does. We seek to position the BIS in media and digital channels as an influential voice on central bank issues, including monetary policy, financial stability and innovation. By doing so we enable the Bank to build trust with stakeholders, broaden its global engagement and shape the future. We also drive the Bank’s internal communications to enable staff to connect to our purpose and strategy.

Leading a team of experts, you will be responsible for the governance, technical development, curation, measurement, and publishing systems for the BIS digital communication channels and social media content. You will have a key role in the development and implementation of the BIS Communications strategy, be responsible for setting the strategic and technical direction for the BIS website, intranet and social media channels of the Bank and you will be responsible for the corporate identity of the Bank.

You will make a strong impact by leading and orchestrating organic digital communications campaigns to support the dissemination of the Bank’s perspective on important topics such as the global economy, financial innovation and share our renowned statistics to an ever-increasing global audience. You will also help to build a strong employer brand to support our people strategy and help to attract and retain top talent to the Bank.

You will support the public dissemination of our statistics and help making them more accessible for non-specialist audiences, by eg using modern tools like data visualisations, statistical dashboards and interactive charts. You will measure and report on the outcome of our communications campaigns to senior stakeholders.

You will work closely with a team of international and diverse team of highly-skilled communication specialists in a positive and stimulating working environment. You will have the opportunity to engage with colleagues across our global offices in Asia and the Americas as well as peers in the central banking community.

As part of the Communications leadership team, you will contribute to the development and management of the wider Communication function.

**Principal Accountabilities**:

- Lead a team of eight digital communication professionals responsible for the creation, management and publishing of content across multiple channels. Recruit, develop and mentor staff, set objectives and manage performance.
- Advise BIS business areas on digital communications channels and content strategy.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for organic digital communication strategies and content development and publishing activities (including social media).
- Have responsibility for the technical development of the BIS website, intranet and social media channels and tools, and accountability for maintaining internal controls for digital publishing systems within the Bank’s IT and governance frameworks.
- Lead and supervise the projects and ongoing development efforts needed to implement our digital communications strategy. Regularly assess customer needs and end-user behaviour and adjust strategies and plans accordingly.
- Have responsibility for managing the planning and budget for development of digital communication channels.
- Provide key internal audiences with regular feedback on impact of communications via digital channels based on appropriate content metrics.
- Have overall responsibility for the BIS corporate identity across all communication channels and corporate materials.
- Support building a strong employer brand that attracts and helps to retain top talent to the Bank.
- Support the public dissemination of our unique BIS statistics and making them more accessible for non-specialist audiences, by eg using modern tools like data visualisations, statistical dashboards and interactive charts.
