Why we are recruiting
The climate crisis and nature’s collapse through the 6th Mass Extinction is a defining moment in Earth’s history. As the Fourth Industrial Revolution gains pace, so the implications of these dual crises are both further felt and more pressing. Resolution will require not just the minds of humanity to open but their hearts too.
The emergence of immersive technology like the metaverse, which is characteristic of the 4th Industrial Revolution, is well placed to offer unique and powerful behaviour changing experiences. By taking leaders into worlds that humans cannot or should not explore (for example, to best conserve these locations), and offering them a space for exchange with others, impact has the potential to scale at an unprecedented speed. Not only can leaders experience these worlds, and harness the latest technologies for learning, they can also interact with diverse individuals independent of their location, opening new doors to global collaboration and real-world impact.
These experiences need careful curation to ensure that the worlds entered demonstrate a scientifically accurate and socially coherent view, whilst also eliciting empathy and inspiring action aligned with Centre for Nature and Climate (CNC) project goals in the real world. In light of the technical content knowledge and facilitation expertise needed to guide technology teams in the design of these experiences, CNC is setting up an agile team to support the design and development of immersive nature and climate experiences with a priority focus on the Global Collaboration Village.
The central leadership team of CNC is seeking a project lead (or senior specialist) who is collaborative, proactive and entrepreneurial to support the build-out of the nature and climate agenda in immersive experiences.
Reporting lines & interactions
Reporting to Head of Innovation and Transformation, CNC. Regular interaction with the Global Collaboration Village team.
Breakdown of main responsibilities- Lead research into cutting-edge immersive approaches to elicit heart-felt responses, behaviour change and action in support of CNC projects and events programming.- Support the design and development of powerful experiences across CNC programming that speaks to hearts and minds working with related Forum communities like arts and culture, indigenous peoples, scientists and youth.- Represent CNC project teams in interactions with the Global Collaboration Village team to ensure project objectives are represented and integrated into the design and development of virtual spaces and interactions for new pilots and existing virtual environments.- Facilitate the provision of timely and accurate information to the Global Collaboration Village team on the ecological, climatic, and socially appropriate data needed to develop compelling and realistic spaces and interactions, designed for impact.- Lead the integration of the Global Collaboration Village into CNC projects for instance: sessions at World Economic Forum events, within project communities and/or through global climate and nature events.- Lead the coordination with the social media and public engagement teams to tell the story of nature and climate in immersive experiences, documenting their impact and inviting broader engagement.
Preferred requirements and experience- At least 6 years of relevant experience, with a focus on nature and climate collaboration in the global public interest.- A team player enthusiastic about the prospect of working at the forefront of nature and climate innovation to bring about behaviour change.- An entrepreneur with experience and enthusiasm for innovation, technology and immersive experiences.- A diplomatic collaborator able to understand various interests and negotiate with emotional intelligence and integrity.- A creative mind with proven experience in delivering campaigns with storytelling aspects.-
- A proactive project manager and partnerships builder, able to operate independently, and align appropriately with relevant team members and external partners.- A collaborator with an entrepreneurial mindset and solutions-oriented approach.- Excellent written and spoken communication in English.
