The Forum’s Centre for Energy and Materials (CENMAT) aims to accelerate a sustainable, secure and just energy and materials transition that delivers on future societal needs. The Centre engages leaders from the public and private sectors to deliver new insights and multistakeholder collaborations at the global, regional and national levels. Through four interrelated programs the CENMAT drive impact and value for constituents in business, government and civil society.

Why we are Recruiting

The Transitioning Industrial Clusters initiative was launched at COP26 by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with Accenture and EPRI to support industrial clusters in their journey toward net zero. Industrial clusters - geographic regions where industrial companies are concentrated - account for 15%-20% of global CO2 emissions. They represent a diverse range of hard-to-abate industries, making them an attractive target for emissions reduction efforts. The initiative convenes and supports industrial clusters, composed of private industrials and public stakeholders, to reduce emissions, create jobs, and develop new technologies by sharing leading practices in policy, financing, technology, and partnerships.

The initiative is an integral part of the Transforming Industrial Ecosystem Program.

We are hiring a Lead, Programming and Communications to successfully 1) manage the initiative’s program curation and delivery in Regional, Centre and Forum institutional events and other multilateral events, and 2) strategize and manage the initiative’s internal and external communications and develop and disseminate marketing products. S/he will support and be the contact point between the initiative and the CENMAT and Forum programming, media, and marketing teams.

Reporting Lines & Interactions

The Lead, Programming and Communications reports to the Manager, Transitioning Industry Clusters. S/he will also work closely with the Program and Centre Leadership teams, the Centre colleagues, and other relevant counterparts across the Forum, to drive the holistic design of events and workshops & programs across Institutional and Centre events. S/he will also design and implement the communications for the initiative and contribute to enhancing the consistency of interrelated pieces across the CENMAT and the Forum.

Breakdown of main responsibilities:
The Lead will drive and manage the initiative’s programming and communications, and marketing function. In particular:
Program Curation
- Lead the curation and narrative development of the Transitioning Industrial Clusters initiative within the Centre for Energy and Materials at Forum institutional events (e.g. Annual Meeting, Annual Meeting of New Champions, Sustainable Development Impact Summit, Growth Summit), collaborating with Centre teams and working closely with Global Programming counterpart(s).
- Work closely with the relevant Centre teams, and cross-Forum counterparts in curating the Transitioning Industrial Clusters participation in events (including sessions), and engagement in key multilateral events (e.g. COP, G7, G20, CEM-MI).
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of flagship Centre events, working closely with Centre program teams.
- Support the Centre for Energy and Materials Programming team.

Communications
- Develop and manage the Transitioning Industrial Clusters’ overall communications planning and strategies, in close collaboration with CENMAT program teams and Forum media and digital teams.
- Manage the Transitioning Industrial Clusters’ social media channels and engagement, including managing social media accounts, and collaborating with the Forum’s digital team to develop institutional videos and social media videos.
- Coordinate with the media team to manage, strategize and prioritize media engagement, such as key spokespersons’ interview engagement.
- Develop the supporting material for media intervention.
- Provide communications strategy support to the program team.
- Support the Centre for Energy and Materials and Forum Media and Digital Marketing team.

Products
- Create input and output materials as needed in support of flagship, regional and multilateral events (e.g. a two-pager going into events and a digital outcome post-event).
- Develop and manage internal communications materials including Centre Welink site, Centre weekly highlight submission.
- Manage the submission of initiative and program input into key institutional materials such as the Forum Annual Report.
- Develop, manage and disseminate external-facing marketing materials (e.g. Centre marketing deck, newsletter for partners, Centre external-facing website, impact stories.
- Develop and deliver content for Centre for Energy and Materials quarterly e-newsletter.
