The Knowledge Communities team cultivates relationships with experts and academics, oversees institutional collaboration with universities, think tanks, and research institutions, and leads the Forum’s

Network of Global Future Councils

(GFCs), all with the aim of generating foresight for the Forum and advancing the impact goals of our

centres and platforms


The Knowledge Communities team is embedded in the World Economic Forum’s Centre for the New Economy and Society, the global platform for shaping prosperous, inclusive and equitable economies and societies that create opportunity for all.

This role involves interaction with senior leaders from academia and world-class experts with global relevance to advance the Forum’s priorities and deliver impact, as well as daily interaction with colleagues across the organization.

This post is based on-site at the Forum’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland and is not remote.

Reporting lines and interaction

This role will report to the Head of Knowledge Communities within the Centre for the New Economy and Society. The

Centre for the New Economy and Society

is the global platform for shaping prosperous, inclusive and equitable economies and societies that create opportunity for all.

The post-holder will work closely with the Knowledge Communities Specialist and the Lead for the Global Future Councils, as well as Centre teams and the Global Programming Group.

Breakdown of main responsibilities
- Relationship and Partnership Management_- Build and manage trusted, long-term relationships with global academic and research institutions and influential experts in economics, humanities, and the sciences, acting as a trusted advisor to these stakeholders with the objective of further including expert perspectives into the Forum’s work and overall impact delivery framework.- Keep timely records of stakeholder interactions in the Forum’s relationship management system and inform relevant internal stakeholders of emerging priorities and feedback.
- Internal Collaboration_- Regularly review the status of expert collaborations internally and align with internal stakeholders to engage experts in ongoing Forum workstreams in meaningful ways.- Collaborate with the Global Programming Group and other relevant Forum teams on the development of programmes for Forum events and in identifying expert speakers as requested.
- Efficiency Improvement_- Continually refine the Knowledge Communities team methodologies for identifying and engaging experts.- Contribute to team efforts to improve the efficiency and excellence of operations through improvements to key processes and development of new tools.
- Operational Tasks_- Provide logístical support and guidance to help stakeholders navigate key Forum events; and identify and pursue engagement opportunities across the Forum’s wide spectrum of activities.
- Contribute to the Forum’s strategic priorities_- Develop a strong understanding of the Forum’s mission and regularly monitor relevant emerging trends and global issues; identify new experts and perspectives that are not yet engaged in the Forum’s work.- Support other activities of the Knowledge Communities team, including the Network of the Global Future Councils, as requested.- Serve as the team’s liaison with other Centres, events, and regional teams when opportune to help channel key messages.- Building and managing relationships with diverse experts such as university presidents, think tanks, and individual academics, and closely cooperating with relevant teams to drive impact through effective expert collaboration.- Seamlessly integrating experts and institutional relationships into a complex ecosystem and bringing an institutional and impact mindset to this engagement.- Representing the Forum externally.- Building productive working relationships with internal stakeholders.- Proactively and efficiently managing relationships, partnerships, and communities with precise communication and a service-oriented mindset.- Developing a strong understanding of the Forum’s mission and regularly monitoring the landscape for additional stakeholders to engage.- Supporting the success and external public engagement presence of the Global Future Council products.

Preferred requirements and experience- An advanced university degree; an interdisciplinary background and approach is preferred.- 6+ years of professional
