**Position Summary**:
Nestlé Research is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, employs approximately 1000 people and is comprised of five Nestlé Institutes: Material Sciences; Health Sciences, Food Safety & Analytical Sciences, Packaging Sciences and Agriculture Sciences. As a Department Manager Food Analytics, you will assess and implement novel solutions in food chemical analytics to fuel product innovation, support food safety & quality across the food chain, and ensure compliance. To be recognized as the Center of Excellence in analytical food chemistry. Collaborate closely with the department of Bioanalytics when required to provide expertise and resources.

**A day in the life of a Department Manager Food Analytics**:

- Scout actively for new/emerging technologies and tools in food chemical analysis; identify ways to mitigate the occurrence of certain chemical contaminants in foods
- Provide expertise and support in food analytics to Operations (NQACs, factories), R&D, AGs, and/or businesses. Contribute to key projects of Nestlé Research (NR) and R&D, helping accelerate new product development
- Develop and deploy robust, fit-for-purpose methods for product innovation, food surveillance, monitoring & control
- Manage the Department Project Portfolio in line with overall NR / Institutes strategy
- Represent NR in the wider Nestlé community and outside (connections and external communication) ; actively promotes the gathering of knowledge including competitor’s scientific and technology intelligence
- Demonstrate Inspirational Leadership and enable a challenging and creative work environment
- Build and maintain competencies according to Department and Institute's strategy; recruit, integrate, coach and develop key people for the Department/ Institute
- Align Department innovation/renovation to PTCs/SBUs/Markets, push and promote results

**What will make you successful**:

- Proven track record of scientific expertise and leadership in the analytical sciences or related field
- Experience with high-end technologies applied in analytical sciences would be an advantage
- Excellent communication skills, people management and development skills
- Ability to manage resources and budgets
- Knowledge of Nestlé businesses and its various networks are an advantage
- High level of integrity, walk the talk, transparent and approachable leadership style
