**About the Food Action Alliance**

The Food Action Alliance (FAA) is a platform for alignment and collaboration mobilizing partnerships and investments to support a transition to food systems that are efficient, sustainable, inclusive, nutritious and healthy in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. FAA was catalysed by the World Economic Forum, Rabobank and IFAD, engaging over 40 members and a vast network of partners from business, government, international organizations, civil society and academia.

FAA supports a growing portfolio of partner-led “flagship” initiatives, that model in powerful, inspiring ways the type of transformative and action-oriented partnerships that are required to move from value chain to food system impact at scale. FAA today supports a portfolio of 19 flagships in Latin America, Africa, India, and Southeast Asia with a growing pipeline of other initiatives.

Building on the goals set forth by the UN Food Systems Summit 2021, FAA will lend its platform to achieve a greater degree of cooperation and innovation, mobilizing business investments in support of country-based food systems transformation. FAA will hence offer an enduring and long-term platform for regional and country-led action, advancing national pathways in close alignment and coordination with UN agencies and toward achieving Agenda 2030.

FAA objectives are:

- Operate as a platform to align, broker and scale effective, multi-stakeholder and action-oriented food systems initiatives.
- Deliver tangible and measurable impact through collective action in support of country-led agendas for food.
- Address key systemic issues for food systems transformation such as financing, innovation, data and digital, gender and youth among others.

**Reporting Lines & Interactions**

The Executive Director reports to the FAA Steering Committee, which includes senior representatives of the FAA core partners and donors. The Steering Committee approves FAA strategy and resourcing plan. The Executive Director is a member of the FAA Steering Committee.

A Steering Committee along with Global and Regional Secretariats lead the strategy and engagement plan to mobilize business investments and donor funding, defining opportunities to build on synergies and complementary capacities, thus accelerating action on the ground. An Expert Network of experts provides cutting-edge scientific and expert advice to the Committee and to FAA as a whole. Learning and knowledge sharing are cultivated in thematic working groups and facilitated by coordination teams operating in the regional groups and globally.

The Executive Director directly delivers on the global coordination function of FAA by leading a Global Coordination Hub (or “Global Secretariat”), while indirectly contributing to coordination within and across the regional groups and networks.

**Breakdown of main responsibilities**
- Strategy and planningWorking under the guidance of the Steering Committee, the Executive Director is responsible for**:

- Leading on the definition and implementation of a 2-year strategy for the development of the FAA, building on inputs from the regional teams and from FAA core members
- Implementing FAA’s action delivery plan
- Creating and leading a fundraising strategy for the FAA, including its coordination function and regional team and networks
- Facilitation and partnership management- Build partnerships, identifying and proactively engaging new and existing partners
- Maintain regular dialogue flows with members and partners and ensuring that the development of FAA is continuously enriched by their perspectives and contributions
- Convene FAA member and partner events
- Project Management- Advise on design, resource and implementation of flagship and country initiatives
- Oversee the development and implementation of the FAA learning agenda, including the role of thematic working groups, the Expert Network, and knowledge management activities of the Secretariat
- Develop an annual budget for the Secretariat and for FAA convening and facilitation functions
- Ensure alignment, smooth communication flows and coordination, as appropriate, among the global and regional functions and teams of FAA
- Lead fundraising efforts for the annual budget
- Team management- Manage the workplan of the global Secretariat staff
- Liaise and manage regional Secretariat Directors or Coordinators, as applicable
- Governance support- Oversee the development of the agenda of the Executive Board and of the Steering Committee of the FAA.
