Global Lead Data Architecture

Männedorf, Switzerland

Your contribution

In this pivotal role, you will be part of the extended IT leadership team, working closely with the Head of Enterprise Architecture & Governance to transform data into a strategic asset at Tecan. You will lead the development and continuous improvement of IT data management capabilities, ensuring that data governance, quality, and security standards are established and maintained across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Setting and maintaining standards for data governance, quality, access, storage, reference data, master data, integration, interoperability, modelling, and data security at Tecan
  • Building and leading the team responsible for the Tecan data platform
  • Establishing business glossaries, data dictionaries, taxonomies, and data catalogues to foster a common language and enable collaboration across the business
  • Ensuring data analytics is leveraged as a key strategic management tool to support business objectives
  • Developing capabilities—people, processes, and technology—to transform raw data into meaningful insights for business analysis
  • Owning the data integration strategy to combine disparate data sources and manage master data
  • Continuously assessing and improving data management maturity, leveraging best practices and emerging technologies
  • Developing data models, frameworks, and end-to-end data architectures
  • Overseeing the design and management of enterprise data systems and guiding the selection of data technologies
  • Managing risks, ensuring adherence to Tecan standards, and fostering collaboration across the organization

Your background

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business economics, IT, or a related field, or equivalent experience and expertise
  • Proven experience in leading international, multi-cultural teams and managing interdisciplinary IT projects
  • Demonstrated expertise in cloud data management, integration, and data analytics platforms, with a focus on AWS
  • Proficiency in integration tools such as Boomi, Mulesoft, or Kong, and experience with data lakes, business intelligence, data warehouses, and analytics
  • Experience working in an international environment and managing change across diverse teams
  • Fluency in English; German language skills are an advantage
  • Certifications in data architecture/engineering are valued, as are additional qualifications such as TOGAF 9 or COBIT, and familiarity with agile methodologies (e.g., SCRUM), JIRA, Confluence, LeanIX, and SAP integration
