The ReTech unit is critical for driving the digital transformation for reinsurance business unit across P&C and L&H business. We aim to create an inspiring environment for our people to use data and technology to create a sustainable and strategic competitive advantage. **About the role** As Head of Technology & Engineering for P&C core, you would define and enhance the P&C landscape technology architecture. You would also be fully responsible for retaining and building strong global Engineering team responsible for delivering the strategic initiatives for P&C business. In this role you will have the freedom to recommend and build alternative, potentially radical solutions to business challenges and contribute to the streamlining of processes and creation of competitive advantage. You will be responsible for identifying investment requirements, prioritizing efforts based on the expected business benefits and drive the effective execution of these initiatives to ensure that investments produce tangible outcomes. To achieve the above, you will closely collaborate and partner with P&C Digital Transformation Leader (DTL). The DTL would be responsible to drive the strategic digital transformation for P&C Core business. You would also collaborate with experienced Product Area Leads of P&C Core, Technology Platform leads and Operations team members. You will have direct responsibility of all Tech Area Leads of P&C core products who are tech counterparts of Product Area Leads. You would be responsible for both internal and external engineering team members of P&C Core Tech area. You would also be responsible for controlling cloud consumption cost and external spend for P&C core engineering team. In this role, you will ensure sharing knowledge across P&C and L&H engineering teams and align best practices across Reinsurance Tech. You would also be frequently called to communicate ideas and plans to various leadership teams and boards Very strong communication at multiple levels (CIDO leadership, Group Technology Services, regional management teams, user communities) of the tech vision, roadmap, deliverables and "what's in it for me" will be a critical success factor towards driving the digital transformation agenda. **About you**- You are energetic, hands-on, with a "can get anything done" attitude- You have proven experience in architecture and engineering of large software systems- Strong experience in building large scale enterprise landscapes for business domains- You have an understanding of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning, Distributed Ledger, Quantum Computing etc. and the respective trends in the re/insurance space- You have strong experience in building and leading engineering teams- You can comprehend technology and system complexities and provide realistic implementation options- You have experience in leading diverse teams based in multiple locations and excel in supervising, coaching, mentoring, and motivating others- You have experience working with contractors and in different sourcing models- You have strong experience in explaining complex technical proposals to senior leaders and other business colleagues- You will have strong end-to-end understanding of the P&C Reinsurance value chain- You have strong experience in the interactions between business and IT, and have an ability to build trusted relationships both in business function and IT- You have strong experience in change management, enterprise transformation and operating model redesign- You can constructively challenge the status quo in an executive/senior management environment- You have an open mind to assimilate new perspectives and actively seek feedback in a team environment- You have excellent English language skills Swiss Re embraces diversity and equ
