Our trusted global marketplace is supported by a network of specialists spanning 40 countries and 50 categories, which include Contemporary Art, Modern and Impressionist Art, Old Masters, Chinese Works of Art, Jewelry, Watches, Wine and Spirits, and Interiors, among many others. **THE ROLE** The Operations Associate (6 month contract) plays a critical role in the Retail team working across different sales channels (Marketplace, Retail, Own Inventory) and multiple categories. This is an exciting role for someone who is excited by being part of new businesses, and wants to learn from the ground how to build a successful retail and marketplace business. **RESPONSIBILITIES** - Responsible for all property movement to and from retail store, including: - Receiving inventory in Zurich Office. - Registrar items for sale in Retail Store and marketplace - arranging photoshoot for items in Zurich office to be put on Sotheby's Buy now website - Organizing courier to transport shelving to Retail store for large property movements (regular revamps, initial set-up). Twice a week in the morning before store opening. - If needed, support wider Operations team in setting up property in Retail store. - Ensure all property isscanned in at each location - Daily replenishment of items from Office Retail at beginning or end of day as needed - Daily property movement - moving inventory from Retail store to Office for any Marketplace orders at the end of the day - If items are not sold, initiate return to consignor process and hand over/send items back to consignors. - Work closely with wider Operations team in Zurich and Geneva to support all Marketplace orders (on Buy Now website and/or Retail Store) - Removing items on display in retail store if the same item has been sold on Marketplace - Packing and shipping Marketplace orders from Zurich office in line with Marketplace SLA - Work closely with UK and US operations team to support continuous process improvement - Participate in project work or other operational tasks as requested. - Main point of contact for all ad-hoc logistic and operational needs for Marketplace/Retail, including but not limited to: - Main contact for all packaging (shopping bags, tissue paper, etc) needs (inventory management and reordering) - Push all inventory out of SAP at end of day if items are purchased through retail - Create invoices for all retail or marketplace customers as requested and send to customers in a timely manner - Help improve existing process for Retail and/or Marketplace where needed **IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES** - Comfortable with ambiguity and change - Retail and Online businesses are new businesses within Sotheby's and we are currently building out and constantly improving processes. - Prior experience with Operations and/or store support (in a retail environment) would be ideal - Logical, resourceful, and constantly strives to improve existing processes - Excellent client service skills, with demonstrated capability in active listening, empathy, service orientation and patience - Calm demeanor, especially under pressure - Good Computer skills: Microsoft (Or Google) Word, Excel, Outlook - Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
