The Role
The Mastercard Business Development Manager - Retail & Commerce, Services is a key point of contact for Clients and internal stakeholders to drive the Advisors business and Market development activities in this segment. Key responsibilities include:
• Identifying and developing new sales opportunities with Merchants across different target verticals, such as Retail, Insurance, Pharma, Hospitality, Travel, Luxury, or other
• Engaging in Sales and Market Development activities, such as attending relevant conferences, key Industry events, and business forums on behalf of Mastercard
• Building and maintaining fruitful relationships with new and existing customers from mid to senior level management
• Leveraging deep knowledge of all the Mastercard capabilities and how they fit together to create customized and relevant solutions for clients solving for their needs
• Understanding client and market challenges and developing clear problem statements to address
• Creating well-structured and persuasive proposals for Clients
• Working closely with Division Lead, Country Manager, and local leadership to drive the Mastercard agenda in the target segments
• Supporting in the continuous development of the local Retail & Commerce Business Development strategy in alignment with regional and global priorities, pro-actively identifying and driving new opportunities to enhance go-to-market
• Aligning efforts for sales success, including managing external and internal obstacles, as well as ensuring leadership alignment and building support
• Playing a key role in capturing of knowledge and development of intellectual capital
• Actively participating in recruiting, training, and local office initiatives
Requirements
• Top rated undergraduate degree required
• MBA or relevant postgraduate degree desirable
Key Skills
• At least 5 years of Sales and Business Development experience (e.g. Services, SaaS, Consulting) with a strong track record
• Experience working with one or more of the target verticals (e.g. Retail, Insurance, Pharma, Hospitality, Travel, Luxury) desirable
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in German and English, ability to communicate on executive level
• Excellent analytical skills
• Ability to work as part of a team, as well as driving opportunities independently
• Strong internal/external stakeholder management skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
• High Attention to detail
