Data Governance and Innovation Strategist

Job Summary:

The Head of Data Management & DataOps is responsible for transforming data generated by R&D into a valuable asset for Lonza. This role leads a team of data engineers and is accountable for the architecture and implementation of software and hardware to analyze the collected data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of data engineers responsible for managing data and knowledge created by the biologics R&D unit.
  • Support scientists in structuring data by creating appropriate workflows and capturing data in a centralized system.
  • Manage and define data standards for the R&D department.
  • Manage a hybrid (cloud/on-prem) data storage structure with omics data.
  • Define and implement methods to store and access complex and large biological datasets for bioinformatic scientists.
  • Coordinate with other Lonza departments to exchange data between departments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a computational field or bioinformatics.
  • Proven experience working with data in a cloud environment.
  • Professional experience in data management and programming within a scientific environment.
  • Experience in implementing and managing data infrastructure, including databases (SQL).
  • Experience in cloud computing.
  • Ability to interpret the needs of a team of scientists and manage their data effectively.
  • Able to manage cross-functional relationships in large corporate structures.
