Deputy Country Coordinator for OPT in Jordan

Position Overview

We are seeking a Deputy Country Coordinator to oversee programmes for our OPT mission based in Amman, Jordan. The successful candidate will work closely with the Country Representative to ensure the effective management of research cycles and the dissemination of information to relevant stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Programmes Oversight and Quality Control
    • Provide high-level line-management to Research Managers, ensuring effective delegation of tasks and ensuring all team members are aware of their job description and responsibilities.
    • Oversee research cycles and associated datasets, ensuring timely completion to IMPACT quality standards and dissemination to relevant stakeholders.
    • Monitor progress and delays, reporting challenges in writing and orally in a timely manner.
  • Training and Staff Capacity Development
    • Support technical and assessment focal points in developing staff capacity, including training and development sessions.
    • Identify talent, capacity gaps, and staff who would benefit from specific trainings, particularly amongst national staff.
  • Grants Development, Management, and Oversight
    • Contribute to identifying funding opportunities, drafting proposals, and conducting initial discussions with donors/partners.
    • Maintain relationships with existing donors, briefing on project progress and key developments in the OPT context.
    • Develop REACH OPT's project development strategy, exploring partnerships with new donors and mapping potential donors.
  • Human Resource Management (Recruitment and Staff Welfare)
    • Identify needs for staff recruitment, including capacity or skills gaps within the units.
    • Support the Country Representative in ensuring timely appraisals, contract renewals, and recruitments.

External Engagement (Donor Engagement, External Representation, Advocacy, Partnership Development and Maintenance)

  • Ensure REACH OPT maintains strong relationships and position as a key information actor in the response, engaging with representatives within the humanitarian coordination structure and UN agencies.
  • Support the Country Representative in REACH OPT advocacy work, raising awareness of key findings and situating them within wider conversations in the response.

Support in the Development and Implementation of the REACH OPT Strategy

  • Closely follow the social, economic, and political situation in OPT, as well as humanitarian coordination developments and key issues in the humanitarian response.
  • Support the Country Representative in strategy development and implementation, reviewing REACH information products for relevance and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Excellent academic qualifications, including a Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • At least 4 years of relevant working experience in humanitarian, development or related settings, including at least 2 years in a programme management role.
  • Excellent team management, coordination, organisational and planning skills, including ability to manage large workloads and oversee multiple teams.
