Athebio AG is a pioneering biotech startup dedicated to revolutionizing the field of biotherapeutics.
We specialize in developing advanced biotherapeutics with pharma partners based on Designed Ankyrin Repeat Proteins (DARPins) and enable the design and creation of various modalities including radiotherapeutics, ADCs, AAV, LNP, and T cell engagers.

You will drive innovation by contributing to the development of our Athebody DARPin discovery platform, pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
- Main Responsibilities:
- Drive Innovation: Contribute to innovations that propel our Athebody DARPin discovery platform forward, pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
- Take Ownership: Proactively drive forward assigned tasks, get expert input as needed, and manage stakeholders while keeping an overview of the broader context and priorities.
- Scientific Excellence: Maintain rigorous standards in your experiments, striving for scientific excellence.
- DARPin Delivery: Ensure timely delivery of super stable Athebody DARPins to our partners, which includes hands-on support for protein engineering, expression, purification, and characterization.
- Quality Control: Focus on delivering only the best molecules to our partners, for use in various therapeutic applications. Understand critical parameters and corresponding methods to measure them. Ensure a final product meets agreed criteria.
- Data Mastery: Analyze and interpret data, considering the larger project setting, then summarize and present key messages to the team and management to enable efficient decision making.
- Knowledge Expansion: Continuously expand your scientific and technical expertise.
- Ph.D. in protein biochemistry or equivalent education with an emphasis on protein engineering, production, and characterization.
- Minimum of 2 years of drug discovery lab experience in industry, with knowledge of standard biotherapeutic discovery processes.
- Strong understanding and expertise with state-of-the-art methodologies in protein science and molecular biology. Enthusiasm to introduce new ideas.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture and in vitro cell-based assays such as FACS.
- Dedication to hands-on work in the lab and optimizing complex workflows is crucial. Ability to develop new methods and provide clear protocols to colleagues.
- Pragmatic goal-oriented approach and ability to drive project-related tasks independently with minimal guidance.
- Timely, independent, and precise working style, in the planning, execution, and documentation of experiments.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving attitude.
- Team player with proactive communication and ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

We offer an on-site workplace and flexible starting dates.
The estimated salary for this position is approximately $120,000-$150,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
