Applied Physicist for Detector Systems Expert

As an expert in detector gas systems, you will play a crucial role in designing, operating, and maintaining complex gas distribution and recuperation systems for particle physics detectors.

Responsibilities- Design and construct new gas distribution and recuperation systems for particle physics detectors, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Maintain and operate existing gas systems at CERN, troubleshooting issues and implementing improvements.
- Contribute to the R&D program focused on developing new gas mixtures and enhancing detector performances.
- Lead the design of Process Control functional analysis, proposing innovative solutions and operating methods.
- Configure, program, and utilize Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, PLCs, and fieldbus technologies.
- Master's degree or equivalent experience in Physics or a related field.
- Proven expertise in particle physics detectors, their operation, and maintenance.
- Experience in designing, operating, and evaluating gas distribution and recuperation systems.
- Understanding of gas mixture composition effects on particle detectors.
- Knowledge of PLC-based control systems and SCADA system implementation.
- Scientific publication and presentation experience.
- A competitive salary of approximately CHF 70,000 - 100,000 per year, depending on experience.
