Senior Bioinformatics Support Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Bioinformatics Support Specialist to join our team at Roche. As a key member of our support team, you will be responsible for providing expert-level support to our customers, ensuring they receive the highest level of service and expertise in bioinformatics and genomics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain training content and documentation for job-oriented training in collaboration with regional training centers.
- Provide 2nd level product support desk for affiliates and regions, minimizing system downtime and offering fast workarounds or solutions.
- Offer onsite support for local and regional service activities, ensuring success in complex repairs, applications, modifications, and first installations.
- Transfer knowledge from manufacturers or R&D to provide comprehensive system knowledge to trainers, service representatives, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Update and maintain a product-specific knowledge pool, verifying information for correctness and relevance.
- Contribute to the provision of GCS service deliverables for development and product care projects, including service requirements, DTDs, SRDs, and service design reviews.
- Ensure the availability of hardware installation manuals and timely provision of service-relevant information, ensuring compliance with service activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or equivalent field.
- 3+ years' experience in customer support for software products, ideally in Biotech/Biomedical sciences or Diagnostic Markets.
- Good knowledge of genomics, including experience with secondary and tertiary analysis of NGS data.
- Good knowledge of public annotation and interpretation databases, tools, and algorithms for sequencing data.
- Highly proficient in bash, python, R.
- Familiarity with Debian- and RedHat-based distributions, particularly with system service and process configurations.
- Good understanding of and demonstrated hands-on experience with networking fundamentals and services (IPv4, DNS, DHCP, etc).
- Experience with application and system monitoring is desired.
- Effective communicator with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Location and Travel:
The employee will be located in Santa Clara, CA (with up to 2 days per week in Pleasanton, CA) or Rotkreuz, CH. Travel time is 25% both domestic and international, required.
