About the Role:

Company 81 - Manulife Data Services Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Global Middle Office Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day operational support, prioritizing tasks as necessary, and ensuring the smooth execution of trade matching, settlements, and post-settlements processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform day-to-day operational support, prioritizing tasks as necessary, to ensure the smooth execution of trade matching, settlements, and post-settlements processes.
  • Cover tasks that may arise from coverage issues, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Actively manage risks, including operational, reputational, and settlement risks, to ensure the integrity of our operations.
  • Ensure a strong understanding of tasks assigned, including investment concepts, best practices, and system requirements.
  • Participate in cross-skilling assignments to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Timely escalate issues to SME/TL, proactively mitigating process gaps or potential issues, and assist in creating and updating process documents.
  • Think critically and act timely on issue resolutions and escalations, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Manage and maintain good working relationships with Front Office, Onshore, and Offshore counterparts, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Support analysis to identify root causes of production problems and errors, and develop timely solutions to improve process efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, using tact and diplomacy to resolve conflicts and issues.
  • Propose projects and process automations to promote service excellence and improve operational efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related business course.
  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience in Trade Support, Middle Office, Investment Operations, and/or Fund Accounting.
  • Hybrid work arrangement: amenability and readiness to work onsite and from home, with flexibility to work on fixed night shifts as needed.

Domain Knowledge Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of securities instruments and investment operational processes.
  • Good analytical and diagnostic skills, with knowledge and ability to understand process design.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and reading comprehension.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in the face of ambiguous situations, shifting demands, and challenging work environments, using diplomacy and tact to resolve difficult situations.
  • Understands the concepts surrounding trade support functions and the trade life cycle.
  • Possesses a fundamental understanding of investment transactions, trade lifecycle, and various asset classes.
  • Good working knowledge of using Bloomberg and other pricing/data sources.
  • Knowledge in BBG, SCD, Custodian Portals is highly preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of data management, pricing, settlements, reconciliation, transactions, and transfers processes.
