Cradle helps teams to engineer proteins with fewer, more successful experiments. We use generative machine learning models, accessible through user-friendly software interfaces, to help engineer protein properties such as stability, expression, activity, binding affinity and specificity. We are bridge builders who bring together the best of machine learning, synthetic biology, developer tools, and user experience design. Our mission is to enable a world where most of the products around us can be easily made and degraded biologically using a cell-factory instead of (petro-)chemicals, plants or animal agriculture.

**Context**

As Sales Development Representative at Cradle, you will join a small but mighty commercial team and work alongside talented colleagues to scale a fast-growing startup. You will join at an exciting time at a startup that found product market fit and is ready to scale, with the ambition to help biologists across the world develop better protein-based products using advanced Machine Learning tools.

You’ll be the scout who identifies Cradle’s future customers and builds the first relationship with them. Your methodical outbound prospecting will result in a healthy sales pipeline that is filled with qualified leads who understand how Cradle will accelerate their R&D efforts.

Your foundation in a life science discipline prepares you to authentically engage with our R&D community in global biotech and biopharma, from protein engineers and bioinformaticians to research associates and executives. Helped by your commercial flair and strong communication, you will deliver the first pitch for diverse target audiences at field events and beyond. The latest outbound tools will enable you to run a tight, efficient and effective process, ensuring that no opportunity is missed. Working alongside Cradle’s Account Executives, your outbounding efforts will result in six to seven figure deals that have significant impact on our growth trajectory.

**Responsibilities**
- Create a strong first impression with prospects by quickly understanding their R&D pain points and explaining Cradle’s value proposition.
- Work closely alongside Account Executives to ensure early pipeline opportunities are carried forward in the sales pipeline.
- Cultivate relationships with everyone from scientists to C-level, gaining an understanding of their needs and decision making process.
- Ensure the CRM system is kept up to date, which allows you to track key statistics on lead conversion.
- Prepare for field events including scientific conferences and tradeshows, coordinating beautiful artifacts and securing meetings with the most relevant attendees. Attend field events to connect with prospects.
- Schedule follow-up meetings with prospects after first contact, pulling in the right colleagues.
- Efficiently leverage the latest prospecting tools to research relevant companies and understand decision making structures.

**Need to haves**
- You are a team player who thrives in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, not afraid to write the required playbooks yourself.
- You listen intently, are innately curious, and learn with humility.
- Masters degree in life sciences or equivalent.
- 1+ years of experience in an (enterprise SaaS) B2B sales or business development role.
- Proven track record of consistently exceeding sales quota (top 5%).
- Excellent project management skills. You are highly disciplined, organized, resourceful and have managed projects across internal and external teams in a complex, global environment.
- Proven track record of cultivating relationships across industries, learning to speak their language quickly.
- You are assertive and unafraid to engage with prospective clients, meaning you’re not afraid to pick up the phone and cold call.

**Nice to haves**
- Prior experience at a (B2B) growth-stage startup is desirable
- Affinity with machine learning

- You are polylingual (German and/or French desired)
