**About the IAS**:
IAS - the International AIDS Society - convenes, educates and advocates for a world in which HIV no longer presents a threat to public health and individual well-being. After the emergence of HIV and AIDS, concerned scientists created the IAS to bring together experts from across the world and disciplines to promote a concerted HIV response. Today, the IAS and its members unite scientists, policymakers and activists to galvanize the scientific response, build global solidarity and enhance human dignity for all those living with and affected by HIV.

**Details of Employment**:
The Manager, Capacity Development and Engagement will be based in Geneva, Switzerland and report to the Director, Governance, Membership and Learning. The position is open-ended and full-time to start as soon as possible.

**Purpose of the Position**:
The Manager, Capacity Development and Engagement will be responsible for managing and overseeing capacity development and engagement programmes and activities, and the associated IAS change maker network of alumni of the IAS’s various professional development programmes. The incumbent will lead the strategic alignment of grant and fellowship programmes, and provide increased professional development opportunities for IAS change makers in areas including HIV cure research, HIV service delivery, paediatric HIV, HIV vaccine R&D and empowerment of young people.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Lead the strategic alignment and operational management of capacity development and engagement programmes, and identify opportunities for cross-collaboration with other IAS departments and teams, and IAS Members and partners.
- Develop grant proposals and donor reports, in collaboration with the Development and Partnerships department, and manage the associated budgets.
- Create a collaborative IAS change maker network with streamlined communications, increased opportunities and improved visibility for the recipients of the IAS’s grant, fellowship and mentorship opportunities.
- Develop and review communications materials, including annual reports, event reports and promotional materials, in collaboration with the Communications department.
- Oversee the monitoring, evaluation and learning to improve capacity development and engagement processes at the IAS.
- Work closely with the HIV Programmes and Advocacy department, and the Manager, IAS Educational Fund to enhance and expand the IAS’s work in education and learning.
- Line manage and mentor a team of Project Managers and Associate Project Managers, and collaborate with other staff and consultants as appropriate.
- Manage programmes throughout the project life cycle as required.
Perform any additional tasks requested by the Director, Governance, Membership and Learning.

**Academic Qualifications**:

- A degree in public health, science, international relations, development or other relevant discipline
- A graduate degree would be an asset
**Work Experience**:

- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar position working in the field of public health at an international level
- Experience managing fellowships, mentorship and grant programmes
- Experience in organizing and facilitating events, roundtables etc.
- Experience in managing complex project budgets and work plans
- Experience working with a diversity of stakeholders
- Team management experience
**Skills/Competencies**:

- Advanced project, team and time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and aptitude for multi-tasking
- Excellent communication skills, ability to represent the programmes and speak in public
- Strong stakeholder management, sense of diplomacy, cross-cultural interpersonal and soft skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure, and occasionally work overtime
- Advanced computer skills in the Windows environment (MS Office, Outlook, etc.)
- Good knowledge of HIV and AIDS preferably in an international context, and broad understanding of the processes of scientific research
- Ability to travel for work
**Languages**:

- Advanced level of spoken and written English, knowledge of other languages is an asset.
