**Swiss American Football (SAF) **is a **non-for-profit sports Federation representing Tackle and Flag football for all of Switzerland**. We are the umbrella organization for all American football in Switzerland and are active members of **Swiss Olympic** and the International Federation of American Football (IFAF).

The Federation has grown from the fully amateur “SAFV” in 1982 when it was a small collective of Senior Men’s tackle football teams seeking competitive matches to its current format with over **2’500 active members across numerous categories**; Men’s, Women’s, Mixed, Youth and two different forms of the sport: Tackle and Flag. The SAF also fields national teams for Tackle & Flag matches internationally, and most recently its Men’s Flag team won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Finland. Flag Football is now an Olympic sport and will be present at LA 2028.

**Head of Finance** (_Volunteer-based Board member_)

**Tasks**
- Oversee all finance & accounting activities for the Federation
- Build annual budgets and multi-year forecasts
- Oversee execution of everyday accounting activities (i.e.: member fees, employee salaries, etc.). This will involve hands-on accounting work as well as directing external accounting firms.
- Participate in board meetings up to 8 times per year in a virtual setting, and be available to attend several in-person meetings in Switzerland (General Assembly & Strategy Weekend)
- Help with design and execution of changes to our structure, tools, processes and general ways of working with the objective of continuing to improve our performance and ability to support members with their needs
- Actively consider how to make our federation more cost-effective for our members along with other board members; take into consideration input from members and best practices from more established sports federations in Switzerland
- Hire and direct part-time accounting personnel and external firms as needed
- Consider the Swiss Olympic ethics charter when making decisions

**Your profile**
- An education in Finance, Accounting or another relevant field
- Prior working experience in a Federation or Association setting in Switzerland (Verband oder Verein) is strongly preferred
- Working experience in a volunteer-based setting is preferred
- Fluent in German and C1/Advanced level of English, or vice-versa
- Knowledge of French and/or Italian is a plus
- Ability to attend board meetings 8+ times a year; usually on a weekday (i.e.: Monday, Tuesday) between 20h00 and 22h00, as well as in-person meetings on weekends twice a year
- Ability to build and manage budgets in MS Excel
- Comfortable and experienced in directing personnel and external vendors (accounting firms) as needed
- Flexibility to adjust tasks and workload on short notice based on urgent needs
