**The Hottingen School is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and passionate native english speaking teacher.**

Hottingen School was established in Zürich in 2018 as an after school English Club for children who live in the Hottingen neighborhood. These children come from a variety of different nationalities, not just Swiss, and are aged 4-12. The aim of the club is for the children to have exposure to English after they have been to local schools in the morning/day.

Our ethos is for this to happen in a fun but educational way with activities inside and out. In the classroom, the children are taught phonic skills through games and fun activities, and a reading scheme with a consequent library has been established. It has been impressive to see how quickly and well the children have learnt to read, but mainly how much they enjoy reading. Academic activities are designed for both the entire group and individual students to support progress at each child's unique level.

Our teachers have found many interesting and stimulating things to do in the local area such as visiting parks and gardens, walks in the woods, farms, the airport observation deck, trying out different types of transport, museums, exploring street art, art galleries and exhibitions. The children also make seasonal observations and love outdoor scavenger hunts. They look forward to the wild garlic time of year when our teachers take them into the woods, teach them how to forage the garlic and then use it to make pesto.

The club has grown through word of mouth, based on the clear enjoyment the children have when they are here. The overall atmosphere at the club is relaxed and fun.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide appropriate feedback to parents and offer guidance when needed
- Develop and implement both group and individualized academic activities
- Instill confidence, enjoyment, and an appreciation of the world in children

**Qualifications**:

- Native English speaker
- Experience working with children aged 4-12
- Strong academic background relevant to early childhood education
- Excellent communication skills with both children and parents
- Ability to provide emotional and academic guidance to young children
- A kind and caring nature, with a passion for fostering child development

**Contract Details**:

- This position is for 50% involvement.
- Teaching hours are scheduled from 1:30 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
- The school year consists of 39 weeks of teaching.
- The school is closed 13 weeks per year, of which 5 weeks are your holidays and 8 weeks are compensated by about 4 hours of weekly extra working time dedicated to preparation, material development, organizational tasks, and parent updates redaction distributed throughout the 39 school weeks.

**Job Type**: 40-60%

Expected hours: 21 per week

Schedule:
