Your Responsibilities
- The EU Energy Team has commercial responsibility for the financial energy hedging and trading strategies across Europe. It is responsible for controlling energy price and volatility risk naturally generated as part of ADM’s main business activities and capturing value from ADM’s physical assets and in-house market view. Reporting to the General Manager Oilseed and Energy Risk, the main duties of this role will include:
- Manage an energy derivatives portfolio of futures, options and vanilla OTC products complementary to the physical energy positions in Europe
- Act as market maker, liquidity provider and adviser to internal businesses on gas, carbon and power hedge strategies and execution
- Expand the sophistication and scope of EU Energy Hedge Desk complementary with ADM’s physical plants energy risk
- Lead the discovery and design of fundamental and non-fundamental systematic trading strategies in the energy and agricultural markets used by ADM. Benchmark, back-test and stress test models from incubation through to going-live to diversify the hedge decision processes
- Build flat price, spread and volatility risk models and associated infrastructure relating to the EU gas and carbon markets to automate position management, stress-testing exposures, price option risk and identify subsequent trading opportunities
- Focus on systematically monetizing the extrinsic value related to the physical assets of ADM’s European operations in the energy markets
- Use of financial derivatives on gas and power to capture market volatility and manage risk on ADM’s power generation assets in line with business run-rates
- Trade a proprietary book with systematic and discretionary strategies in energy and agricultural commodities within ADM’s product scope, VAR and drawdown metrics

Your Profile
- Extensive trading experience in vanilla futures, options/volatility and OTC products in the EU Power, Gas and Carbon markets
- Strong background in quantitative discipline (statistics, engineering, data science, quantitative finance)
- Experience building platforms and infrastructure
- Coding proficiency (python, C++, R etc.)
- Experience managing commodity risk, and a proprietary PnL
- Willing to be part of the wider ADM Commercial team’s strategy and decision-making
