Leadership Communications Lead

The World Economic Forum, committed to improving the state of the world, is the international organization for public-private cooperation. The Forum engages the foremost political, business, cultural and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.
The Global Communications Group is the central Forum team dedicated to communications with the public, media, stakeholders and staff in relation to the Forum’s mission. Through multiple channels, the Group is responsible for communicating the work of the Forum and its constituents, reaching, growing, engaging and inspiring diverse and interested audiences.
Why we are recruiting
The Group is expanding and consolidating its strategy. It is composed of four key functions: Communication Strategy and Coordination, Public Engagement, Media Engagement, and Stakeholder and Staff Engagement. It is searching for a Leadership Communications Lead within the Communication Strategy and Coordination unit.
Reporting Lines & Interactions
The role will report to the Head of Communications Strategy and Coordination. Internally, it will liaise across the Global Communications Group and with Forum leadership stakeholders. Externally, it might engage on an occasional basis with external advisors and/or consultants, as well as media professionals.
Key responsibilities- Design and coordinate the Forum’s approach to leadership communications- Develop and disseminate best practices and tools to be used by Forum colleagues delivering external-facing communications regarding initiatives, reports, events, and other Forum activities.- Develop and disseminate the content for shared leadership talking points, leadership talking points, social media posts and other institutionally-relevant communication, ahead of high-visibility activities, and aligned with the Forum’s mission and the Group’s communication strategy.- Enhance and systematize the Forum’s approach to media training for its spokespeople, refreshing internal processes and the engagement of external consultants.- Identify and remain at the forefront of the latest communication trends as well as emerging trends relating to the breadth of topics covered by the Forum’s work, informing the Forum’s approach to leadership communications.- Act as a trusted member of the Global Communications Group team, working especially closely with colleagues responsible for reputation as well as media engagement, and developing trusted internal relationships across the team and the organization.- Successful creation of a robust and effective leadership communications strategy and delivery of a coordinated approach leading to improved cohesion, relevance and reputation.- Successful implementation of an effective media training approach.- Timely and high-quality development of the Forum’s leadership talking points, social media posts and other institutionally-relevant communication.- Contribution towards successful management of the Forum’s reputation and brand.- Ability to collaborate efficiently and transparently within the team and across the organization as a strong team player- Strong understanding of the Forum’s mission and impact.- Keeping abreast of relevant issues, developments, initiatives, and stakeholders pertinent to the Forum’s mission and impact-related work; ongoing learning of the online, offline and social media landscape- Fluency in the use of internal and external digital platforms, strong project management, and internal and external relationship management- Represent effectively the Forum internally and externally where applicable, in interactions with media and external constituents, as well as at institutional events
Required qualifications:- 8+ years of relevant work experience in journalism, communications, public relations or strategy- Strong editorial skills with proven and persuasive writing and speaking with demonstrated ability to understand complex themes, the global landscape and a strong mission orientation. Experience in speechwriting is a strong plus.- Excellent interpersonal skills, with proved track record in building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including leadership- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in other languages a valued asset.- and short-term objectives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.- Excellent teamwork, collaboration and operational management skills.
