This is a regional role based in pilot plant and manufacturing locations specializing in innovation, characterization, and process development for Roquette’s plant-based ingredients using various traditional and advanced techniques. More specifically, this role will support the day-to-day activities of the R&D Process Development team. The role requires extensive pilot plant and laboratory work, assisting R&D engineers and scientists as directed.
Location: Geneva, IL
Responsibilities:
- Work with R&D and the Manufacturing teams to learn the key sampling locations throughout a production process and take samples for later analysis.
- Work with R&D and Quality teams to learn and perform analytical testing and data analyses.
- Build strong working relationships with R&D and the teams at Keokuk.
- Learn all safety rules and follow them.
- Provide support to the R&D team for protein and polyol pilot plant experiments and trials.
- Execute lab process and pilot experiments defined by R&D process engineers and scientists following equipment SOPs and operating standards.
- Maintain food processing plant sanitation standards, including equipment CIP and other cleaning as needed.
- Responsible for operating and basic troubleshooting of lab and pilot equipment.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and well-organized working environment in the pilot plant, storage room, and boiler room.
- Assist with receipt of products and ingredients, storage of samples, accurately weighing ingredients and products, preparing products and samples for evaluation.
- Maintain pilot plant equipment and documentation as required by GMP programs.
- Perform all duties with accuracy for quality results.
- Identify and communicate equipment and facility improvement options/issues to supervisor.
- Other tasks and independent projects as assigned.
- Commit and act, under all circumstances, in accordance with the values and principles of Roquette code of conduct/Ethics, as well as Quality and Safety policies.
Requirements:
- Junior or incoming Senior level student in an accredited Chemical and Mechanical engineering degree program with a minimum GPA of 3.2 within the degree program.
- Ability to maintain a safe and orderly work environment, maintain, record, and review SOPs, proper communication skills, work independently, exercise initiative and good judgment, and solve routine problems without assistance, climb ladders, frequently lift, carry and/or push light to heavy materials as well as stand and walk most of the day. Flexibility to easily transition from one task to another. Be trained to safely operate rotating equipment.

- Hands-on person and able to multi-task.
