The position
As Vice President, Clinical Operations, you will be part of the Clinical, Medical & Regulatory Affairs (CMR) team which is based in our International Operations Strategic-Operations organization (IO-SO). International Operations (IO) is the largest operational unit in Novo Nordisk and covers 193 countries, responsible for almost half of Novo Nordisk's sales. IO is split into seven regions, spread across every continent of the globe with a head office (IO-SO) based in Zurich, Switzerland.
In CMR our focus is to improve patient lives and our team works with > 3500 colleagues across IO to build the best-in-class Clinical, Medical & Regulatory organization. By doing so we contribute to the short-midterm business goals and establish future growth drivers for Novo Nordisk. We drive medical strategies and tactics for in-line brands and New Therapy Area market development and steer functional projects to maximize the impact of CMR.
Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of the CMR area you will be a member of IO CMR leadership team. You will be leading the IO-SO Clinical Operations team and have functional (matrix) leadership of regional IO Clinical teams and Clinical Development Center heads.
The role involves overseeing Clinical Operations across all therapy areas and trial phases delivered by IO regions, developing the Clinical Operations Excellence function to ensure top-tier operations and digitalization implementation across IO regions. Additionally, the role includes representing IO Clinical globally, collaborating with global Development stakeholders on global trial planning and execution, resourcing, portfolio priorities, and global initiatives. The position entails owning the development and execution of IO Clinical Operations strategy in alignment with overall CMR, IO, and HQ priorities.
The position is based in Zürich, Switzerland.
Qualifications
We are seeking a highly qualified and seasoned leader with 15+ years of clinical operations experience in a (bio)pharmaceutical company, focusing on early and late-stage clinical trials, with a focus on cardiometabolic disease.
You have successfully delivered impactful results and gained profound expertise in matrix and stakeholder management at a global level. Furthermore, you have demonstrated the ability to represent a company in a variety of internal and external settings. Experience working within major markets, resolution of international issues, and partnerships is highly desired.
Alongside your extensive experience in line management or functional matrix/project leadership you are proficient in leading international operational transformations, organizational restructuring, and ensuring scalability, sustainability, and digital readiness.
You are a strong communicator with the ability to think and plan strategically with a proactive and result-oriented approach. You have exceptional interpersonal skills, and capability handling crisis and conflict management.
An MD/PhD or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline is required. Fluency in spoken and written English is expected.
