We have an exciting new temporary job opportunity for 8 months and are looking to hire a

Senior Specialist General Accounting for trading companies

You assist the Swiss and Dutch entity controller group in the execution and accurate delivery of the accounting (US GAAP and local GAAP), controls and internal and external reporting for these companies. You collaborate closely with other members of the Entity Controllers Group (including the team in the Netherlands and the US), Global Delivery Operations (GDO), Costing team and the different Tax teams. You are also part of continuous process improvements and participate in various global projects.

  • Ensures financial accounts are maintained in line with statutory requirements and US-GAAP by applying appropriate accounting policies and procedures and oversees maintenance of supporting documentation, including creation of external financial reports.

  • Ensures strong cooperation with Global Delivery Operations (GDO) Centers in Lisbon to execute on agreed deliverables and processes.

  • Ensures effective financial control environment by understanding, monitoring and executing on local control procedures and that all key controls as defined in the company’s Global and Local Control Standards are properly executed and documented.

Purpose of the role
The Entity Senior Accountant reports to The Associate Director of the trading entities and is responsible for accurate accounting treatment of the financial statements for both US GAAP and local GAAP reporting, controls and internal and external reporting for the entities in scope. The successful candidate will coordinate with multiple stakeholders and will work closely with other finance teams in Switzerland and the Netherlands.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Complete and control month-end closing activities as per the closing checklist and communicated timelines.

  • Perform the Revenue Recognition analysis as per the standard process to ensure correct and timely recording of revenue.

  • Experience with the Order to Cash activities and able to manage revenue and 3rd party sales accounting and master data as per the contracted terms.

  • Collaborate with other internal teams including Commercial Finance, Supply Chain Management, Internal Control, Direct tax, VAT, Global Process Owners and Treasury.

  • Closely cooperate with the Global Delivery Operations in Lisbon to execute deliverables and processes.

  • Being able to support some entities remotely and efficiently.

  • Bring solutions and continuous improvement to simplify and automate manual processes.

  • Work closely with the Tax team for income tax reporting, including deferred tax calculation.

  • Assist with the preparation of the quarterly and annual Income Tax submission for EY.

  • Perform a trial balance review at month end.

  • Account reconciliations review and identification of open items to resolve.

  • Work closely with the Transfer Pricing team to ensure accurate profitability adjustments to achieve the target profit of the LRDs (Limited Risk Distributors).

  • Responsible for posting adjustments to the local statutory and tax ledgers.

  • Prepare the annual report as per local GAAP.

  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors.

  • Continue to meet S404 requirements, perform and document internal controls timely.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Finance and/or Accounting, CPA is preferred.

  • At least 8 years of demonstrated experience in an accounting and/or finance role in an international organization (Pharma Industry is preferred)

  • Expert in accounting and financial reporting.

  • Proven strong stakeholder management skills and able to deliver quality closing of our accounts.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

  • Demonstrates understanding of US GAAP and local GAAP and applies them appropriately to ensure the financial integrity of the business and financial statements
