Role Description

The Fashion Product Design Assistant supports the creative and technical aspects of product development from concept to production. This role assists designers in transforming ideas into commercially viable fashion products through research, sketching, material sourcing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate is highly creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about design innovation, with a deep understanding of fashion trends, textiles, and production processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of seasonal concepts, mood boards, and color palettes based on market trends and brand direction.
  • Conduct research on fabrics, trims, and materials, and maintain an organized materials library.
  • Create technical sketches, digital illustrations, and product specifications using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Support the preparation of detailed tech packs for sample development and production.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and factories to manage sample requests, production schedules, and quality reviews.
  • Participate in design meetings, fittings, and sample reviews to ensure product accuracy and design integrity.
  • Track and manage samples, prototypes, and revisions to maintain design timelines.
  • Assist in compiling product presentations, lookbooks, and line sheets for internal reviews and client meetings.
  • Collaborate with merchandising, sourcing, and production teams to align design intent with commercial objectives.
  • Stay updated on fashion trends, market analysis, and competitor activities to inspire new product ideas.
  • Support design team organization through digital file management, documentation, and workflow coordination.
  • Ensure that all designs align with brand guidelines, sustainability initiatives, and cost objectives.
  • Contribute creative input to improve product aesthetics, functionality, and customer appeal.
  • Participate in photo shoots, collection launches, or trade shows when required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related discipline.
  • 1–3 years of experience in fashion design, product development, or a similar creative role (internship experience acceptable).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and textile properties.
  • Excellent eye for color, proportion, and detail, with strong visual presentation skills.
  • Understanding of fashion market trends, product lifecycle, and consumer preferences.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems or ERP tools is an advantage.
  • Passion for creativity, innovation, and sustainability in fashion design.
