Role Description

The Fashion Product Design Assistant supports the design and development of fashion collections from concept to production. This role collaborates closely with designers, merchandisers, and production teams to ensure creative ideas are transformed into high-quality, market-ready products. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about fashion, with a strong understanding of trends, materials, and garment construction. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both creative design and technical development within the fashion industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the design team in developing seasonal collections, from initial concept and sketches to sample approval.
  • Conduct market and trend research to identify new materials, colors, and design inspirations.
  • Create digital design sketches, mood boards, and color palettes using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Prepare and update detailed technical specification sheets (tech packs) for samples and production.
  • Source fabrics, trims, and accessories while maintaining accurate material records.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and vendors to track sample development and production timelines.
  • Participate in fitting sessions and provide feedback on garment fit, quality, and design accuracy.
  • Organize and maintain fabric libraries, trims inventory, and sample archives.
  • Support the preparation of presentation materials for internal reviews, trade shows, or client meetings.
  • Monitor design schedules to ensure deadlines are met and collections are completed on time.
  • Collaborate with merchandising and production teams to align design intent with commercial objectives.
  • Assist in photo shoots, show preparations, and visual merchandising as needed.
  • Contribute creative ideas to improve design concepts and workflow efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related creative field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in fashion design, product development, or related roles (internships acceptable for entry-level).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and textiles.
  • Excellent creative, artistic, and visualization skills.
  • Knowledge of fashion trends, color theory, and consumer preferences.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with the full product development lifecycle, from concept to production.
  • Positive attitude, adaptability, and a passion for continuous learning in the fashion industry.
