Role Description

The Fashion Product Design Assistant supports the design and development process of apparel and accessories, working closely with designers, product developers, and merchandising teams. This role assists in creating design concepts, preparing technical drawings, coordinating samples, and maintaining accurate documentation throughout the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about fashion design, with a strong sense of trends, color, materials, and construction. The position offers hands-on experience in product design, development, and cross-functional collaboration within a dynamic, fast-paced fashion environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing seasonal collections by supporting the creation of sketches, mood boards, and color palettes.
  • Prepare and update technical drawings, design specifications, and product details using design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or CLO 3D).
  • Support the design team in fabric and trim sourcing, sample organization, and material library maintenance.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to track sample production, fitting sessions, and quality reviews.
  • Maintain accurate design files, product data sheets, and line sheets for internal reference and production partners.
  • Assist in trend research, competitor analysis, and market studies to identify new design opportunities.
  • Communicate with suppliers and vendors regarding material requests, sample follow-ups, and production timelines.
  • Help prepare presentation materials for design reviews, buyer meetings, and marketing use.
  • Support quality control activities by checking samples for accuracy, construction, and color matching.
  • Coordinate with merchandising and marketing teams to ensure design consistency across product lines and campaigns.
  • Contribute creative ideas to enhance product aesthetics, functionality, and consumer appeal.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
  • 0–3 years of experience in fashion design, product development, or related creative roles (internship experience acceptable).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and familiarity with 3D design tools (CLO 3D, Browzwear) is a plus.
  • Strong sense of fashion trends, color theory, materials, and garment construction.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Attention to detail, creativity, and a keen eye for design aesthetics.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate across design, development, and production functions.
  • Basic understanding of production processes, sourcing, and technical specifications.
  • Passionate about fashion, innovation, and sustainability in design.
  • Fluent in English; additional language skills are an advantage for communicating with overseas suppliers.
