Role Description

The Fashion / Product Design Assistant supports the design and development of fashion products from concept to production. This role involves assisting designers in research, sketching, material selection, sample preparation, and coordination with suppliers and production teams. The position requires creativity, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail to help bring design concepts to life while maintaining brand identity and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing seasonal collections, including research on trends, colors, fabrics, and materials.
  • Support designers in creating sketches, mood boards, and technical drawings.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and production teams for fabric sourcing and sample development.
  • Help manage sample production, quality checks, and revisions.
  • Maintain design archives, fabric swatches, and sample libraries.
  • Prepare presentation materials, product sheets, and visual references for internal and client meetings.
  • Support the team in fitting sessions and document design or pattern adjustments.
  • Track timelines and ensure deliverables are completed according to project schedules.
  • Organize and update digital files, technical packs, and product specifications.
  • Assist in communication between design, merchandising, and production departments to ensure consistency and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Product Design, or a related field.
  • 0–3 years of experience in fashion or product design; internship or assistant experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Basic knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and fabric types.
  • Strong sense of aesthetics, color coordination, and design trends.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a creative team environment.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with internal and external partners.
  • Passion for fashion, innovation, and continuous learning.
  • Japanese and English proficiency is a plus for Japan-based roles.
