THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced R&D Legal Counsel for a global life sciences company in Switzerland. The Legal Counsel will serve as a key member of the legal team, providing legal support across a broad range of R&D activities. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, regulatory, compliance, and commercial functions, to advise on clinical trials, research collaborations, innovation initiatives, and regulatory matters. Fluency in English is essential for this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide legal counsel on a wide range of R&D matters, including clinical trials, research collaborations, early-stage innovation, and regulatory frameworks.Draft, review, and negotiate contracts such as clinical trial agreements, research collaborations, CDAs, and service agreements with external partners.Partner with internal stakeholders to identify legal risks, propose practical solutions, and support decision-making across the development pipeline.Support policy, process, and template development to streamline R&D-related legal operations.Engage and manage external counsel when needed for specialist topics.Work independently while collaborating across diverse internal teams in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.YOUR PROFILE
Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree; must be licensed to practice law.At least 9 years of legal experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare setting Deep understanding of clinical development, R&D partnerships, and regulatory compliance Proven ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and provide business-friendly legal advice under pressure.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across functions and communicate clearly.
