In this role you will be responsible to build, develop and lead a team of labor and employment lawyers who will be accountable and responsible for supporting all labor and employment legal matters for EL, in strong collaboration with EL Regional General Counsels, country counsel and Division Lead Counsel Act as the business partner for EL in all labor and employment matters, providing strategic advice to the business to support achievement of BA goals and priorities. Support the BA Global Head of HR to build a strong labor and employment expertise within the BA and ensure that the BA is operating at all times within a sound legal, compliance and regulatory framework on all labor and employment matters. This is a role with dual responsibility as the global Head of Labor and Employment and Lead Labor and Employment Counsel for Americas (comprising Canada, US, Mexico and Latin America), operating under the direction of the Business Area General Counsel and Global Chief Counsel, Labor & Employment law.

**Your responsibilities**:

- Act as the primary speaking partner and point of contact for the Global Head of HR for EL and will be a part of the HR extended leadership team for EL, act as the primary point of legal support on labor and employment matters across the Americas
- Establishing and leading a team of Labor & Employment lawyers based in various locations and identify areas of gaps and improvements needed across the BA in the areas of policy, best practices and compliance with regulatory framework, and define/lead/implement changes and improvements in strong collaboration with the BA HR community
- Define the development and implementation of various processes and strategies to promote an overarching culture of integrity and compliance with all Labor & Employment laws and regulations
- Provide advice and counsel and supervise team members on risk mitigation as to all Labor & Employment law related matters, employee relations escalations and investigations from the basic to the complex; recognizing when to elevate certain matters to the attention of the BA General Counsel and Global Chief Counsel Labor & Employment law. Lead (as required) on certain sensitive senior level employee investigations in partnership with the Integrity & Regulatory Affairs team
- Advise/guide on disciplinary outcomes in relation to HR/employee investigations, drafting employment-related agreements, including employment contracts, confidentiality agreements, non-competes and separation agreements; tracking industry trends that impact the EL Business Area.
- Set up processes and supervise, manage and evaluate outside counsel on all Labor & Employment-related matters. Develop and build on a strong network of selected outside counsel law firms who will serve as the preferred law firms for labor and employment matters
- Educate and train internal stakeholders on all Labor & Employment law related matters, lead on global Labor & Employment law projects, such as those that come out of restructuring and transformation, that may need to be applied simultaneously across many or all of the jurisdictions where EL has a presence.
- Work in partnership with labor relations and business leaders to provide legal advice and strategy regarding works councils, trade unions and other labor relations organizations, establish and maintain relationships, credibility and trust with key internal stakeholders, other legal team members and colleagues; work closely with the business area and regional labor relations teams, and with other functions such as the Integrity, Regulatory Affairs and Data Privacy.
- Lead, or serve as primary contact for all business area Labor & Employment law litigation, disputes, labor authority investigations and overall labor & employment law defense strategy and work with the Global Head of HR for EL to communicate the Labor & Employment law strategies, processes, outcomes, data, metrics and more.

**Your background**:

- LLM or equivalent qualification from a reputable university and qualified Labor & Employment law specialist lawyer currently admitted to practice law, and familiarity with labor & employment law issues in both common law and civil legal systems.
- Minimum 15 years’ post qualification Labor & Employment Law experience (PQE) in a major law firm, or in-house or a combination of both.
