The Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) is looking for a collaborator (100%) with experience in both animal care and administrative work to join its Animal Facility team. The FMI’s Animal Facility is responsible for the housing, welfare and care of laboratory animals, while supporting research groups through animal breeding services.
**In this role, you will**:
- Collaborate with animal caretakers on daily husbandry tasks, including orders, repairs, treatments and documentation.
- Manage ordering processes.
- Coordinate the maintenance of Animal Facility equipment.
- Manage the sentinel program.
- Assist in organizing relevant internal trainings and meetings.
- Administer various databases, such as the Federal animex-ch and internal records.
- Support the development and maintenance of the Animal Facility database (PyRAT).
- Assist the Biosafety Officer in managing BL2 laboratories.
- Provide _ad hoc_ support to the Head of Animal Facility and the Animal Welfare and Biosafety Officer.
**About you**
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology or in a related field (or equivalent experience)
- You have hands-on experience in Animal Work and have completed the LTK module 1 or an equivalent qualification.
- You have expertise in animal care and welfare.
- You are reliable, with a strong work ethic and a high level of self-motivation.
- You are resourceful, self-organized and adaptable in problem-solving, with the ability to collaborate and work inclusively with diverse teams.
- You communicate clearly and effectively in English, with basic proficiency in German.
