**Job purpose**

The Managing Director (MD) of the region controls and oversees European and Middle Eastern business operations, people, and strategies. This position will report to the CEO. The MD is responsible for running day-to-day operations and guiding general business strategy.

The Managing Director is responsible for driving successful growth by leading and mentoring employees in the region and fostering business relationships with customers and partners. Duties include maintaining frequent communications with company Executives and Board Members, reviewing operational data and financial statements to track the progress of business initiatives.

**Duties and responsibilities**

- Ensure SSP maintains effective and proactive communication with new and existing customers and internal stakeholders.
- Process improvement - monitor, measure, and improve internal processes to deliver software and services more effectively and efficiently to customers.
- Execute the company’s business strategies to attain the short and long-term goals of the organization.
- Provide in-region strategies to company leadership so that they will have an accurate view of the market needs.
- Communicate effectively and maintain relationships with shareholders, business partners and employees.
- Foster an environment that strives for clear communication, accessibility, and understanding.
- Build and present reports on the region’s project activities and results.
- Develop key performance goals and manage the performance of staff.
- Implement new strategies for business growth.
- Hire new staff within the EMEA region.
- Working closely with account managers and other senior staff to retain clients.
- Improve internal processes for better productivity.
- Oversee large projects and deliver performance reports to leadership.
- Manage the budget and monitor the financial health of the EMEA region

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Geography, Business, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience as Managing Director or in another senior managerial role.
- Knowledge of market conditions in Europe and/or the Middle East.
- Experience establishing short and long-term goals and strategies to accomplish them.
- Working understanding of Corporate Finance.
- Strong Customer Service skills.
- Positive attitude and desire to be a part of a winning team.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong organizational skills including process development.
- Proven ability to coach and develop team members successfully.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Master’s Degree in business administration or a related field.
- Experience in telecommunications or fiber networks.
- Experience in leading a software business/offering.
- Fluency in additional languages including Spanish, Germany, Italian, or French is a plus.

**Working conditions**

This position operates in a professional office environment. This position may be performed remotely but individuals living within commuting distance to Bern, Switzerland or London, United Kingdom will be given preference. This role requires routine use of standard office equipment such as computers and phones. This role may require up to 40% travel, both domestically and internationally.

This is a largely sedentary role.
