Research Assistant

**Research Assistant (working towards a PhD) in Pervasive Computing for Sustainability (M/F/d)**:
70% (unlimited, by 05.09.2021)

**Your tasks**:
In this position, you will focus on designing methodologies and implementing user-centric systems capable of perceiving and understanding dynamic environments to compute and communicate suitable assistance and/or protection for their users. To this end, you will conduct research on the intersection of symbolic and sub-symbolic AI, as well as exploring innovative user interfaces. As part of your PhD in Computer Science, you will be contributing to a large project that aims at creating a digital ecosystem for sustainability information and services. As part of this engagement, you will furthermore jointly supervise students on the Master's and Bachelor's level, and participate in and support the teaching activities of the chair.

**Your profile**:

- Confidence and independence in designing and implementing complex systems (industry experience is a plus)
- Interest in sustainability topics. Specifically in creating technological tools that can have a real impact on the GHG emissions of diverse stakeholders
- Interest on semantic technologies, knowledge representation, and knowledge engineering (experience is a plus)
- Interest in innovative user interfaces such as Mixed and Augmented Reality
- A rising track record in peer-reviewed research in the respective topic area is a plus
- Experience in supervising student projects and assisting in university level teaching is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- An international mindset paired with a high ambition to excel in research, teaching, and academic service
