Midwife - Global Health Specialist

At Medecins Sans Frontieres, we are seeking a skilled Midwife - Global Health Specialist to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality sexual and reproductive health services to women and children in need.
Responsibilities
- Implement and plan all sexual and reproductive health activities, ensuring the highest standards of care.
- Collaborate with field doctors and nurses to provide support and assistance when needed, particularly in emergency situations.
- Provide pre- and post-delivery care to mothers and babies, ensuring their health and well-being.
- Supervise and train local midwives and the maternity team, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all pregnant women and newborns are referred to the Expanded Programme on Immunisation (EPI), promoting health and well-being.
- Establish and manage maternity departments in new health centres and hospitals, providing essential services to communities.
- Care for survivors of sexual violence, providing compassionate and professional support.
- Work closely with community birth attendants to promote safe birthing practices and improve maternal and child health outcomes.
- Oversee the distribution of drugs, monitor consumption patterns, and manage inventory, ensuring efficient and effective supply chain management.
- Manage administrative procedures and documents, analyzing routine data to inform decision-making and improve services.
Requirements
- Qualification as a registered midwife, with a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
- At least two years of professional experience as a midwife, with a focus on women's health and reproductive services.
- Recent clinical experience, with a minimum of six months within the last 24 months, demonstrating current and relevant skills.
- Experience in labour wards and difficult case management, with a strong ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Previous experience as an independent midwife, with extensive numbers of deliveries and pre- and post-natal care, as well as relevant experience in hospital settings.
- Willingness to work in a variety of contexts worldwide, including unstable areas, and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Fluency in English and/or French, with a commitment to communicating effectively with colleagues and patients.
- Adaptable and able to work in a multicultural team, with a flexible and stress-managed approach.
- Available for a minimum of six months, with a commitment to providing continuity of care.
