Business Development Manager Timber

About the RoleWe are looking for a seasoned professional with extensive experience in timber trading, who can leverage their expertise to drive business growth and development. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful negotiations and trading activities, as well as a deep understanding of timber species, grading standards, and industry-specific terminology.
Key Responsibilities- Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market analysis to identify trends, supply-demand dynamics, pricing fluctuations, and regulatory changes that may impact trading activities.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate sales agreements with clients and intermediaries to secure optimal pricing and terms.
- Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, distributors, and end-users to ensure consistent supply and demand fulfillment.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks such as market volatility, transportation challenges, and regulatory compliance issues, and develop strategies to minimize risks and protect the company's interests.
- Financial Analysis: Analyze pricing structures, production costs, and market trends to determine optimal pricing strategies that maximize profitability while remaining competitive.
- Team Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior traders and support staff, sharing industry knowledge and best practices to enhance the team's performance.
- Reporting: Generate regular reports on trading activities, market trends, and financial performance to inform business decisions.
- Business Development: Identify potential business opportunities and partnerships within the timber industry, and explore new markets, products, and channels for growth.
- Master's degree in Management, with specialization in Forestry or Agri Commodities preferred.
- Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in timber trading, with a proven track record of successful negotiations and trading activities.
- In-depth understanding of timber species, grading standards, and industry-specific terminology.
- Language proficiency: English and French to communicate with colleagues in different offices. Dutch, German, or other European language will help communication with our clients in the continent.
