PATH is seeking a highly experienced Global Health Security Surveillance Expert to join our team. This exciting opportunity will see you working on the USAID-funded Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection System (STRIDES) global project.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the day-to-day technical and operational aspects of projects related to surveillance activities. You will oversee the development, coordination, and implementation of the surveillance activities in the programmatic workplan, including epidemiological surveillance, laboratory surveillance of epidemic- and pandemic-prone diseases, as well as outbreak investigation at national, regional, and/or international levels.

You will also supervise technical staff members ensuring that project activities are on track with work plans, with technical expertise informing project implementation. Additionally, you will prepare project and donor reports, draft publications and external communication, lead the development/revisions of best practice documents, and may be required to coordinate and work with a diverse group of organizations.

We are looking for someone with a Master's degree or its International Equivalent in Knowledge/Information in epidemiology, public health, or control of infectious diseases from a recognized institution. Experience in surveillance and outbreak investigation and control in developing countries is essential, along with in-depth knowledge of public health issues and trends, epidemiological theory, principles, and practices, and surveillance techniques, systems, and procedures.

Requirements
  • Master's degree or its International Equivalent in epidemiology, public health, or control of infectious diseases
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in international experience in activities related to the application of epidemiological principles and methods in the design, implementation, and management of surveillance systems; epidemiological analysis; training; and research
  • Experience in surveillance and outbreak investigation and control in developing countries
What We Offer

We offer an estimated salary of $115,000 - $140,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, and a competitive benefits package. The position requires occasional travel up to 25% and fluency in English is required. French, Spanish, or Arabic is highly preferred.
