The Surveillance Lead will serve as a key personnel position on the USAID-funded Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection System (STRIDES) global project, overseeing surveillance aspects and ensuring quality service delivery. This individual should be an advanced subject matter expert with international experience in epidemiological principles, methods, and practices.
Responsibilities:
- Leverage technical expertise to lead day-to-day operations and project implementation.
- Develop and implement policies and processes for surveillance activities, including epidemiological surveillance, laboratory surveillance, and outbreak investigation at national, regional, and international levels.
- Supervise technical staff members to ensure project activities align with work plans and provide technical guidance.
- Prepare project reports and external communications, including publications and presentations.
- Lead the development of best practice documents and coordinate with international partners.
- Collaborate with diverse groups, including government agencies, NGOs, and international organizations, to complete work.
- Work on complex problems requiring evaluation of variable factors.
- Provide input to senior leadership on national guidelines and policies.
- Manage the production and dissemination of high-quality data and information, including situation reports and health risk assessments.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Master's degree or its equivalent in epidemiology, public health, or infectious diseases from a recognized institution.
- 12+ years of international experience in surveillance systems, epidemiological analysis, training, and research.
- Experience in surveillance and outbreak investigation in developing countries.
- In-depth knowledge of public health issues, epidemiological theory, and surveillance techniques.
Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
