We invite applications for a PhD position in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich.
About the Project
The MC4DD project offers research excellence in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery, bringing together 8 academic research groups and 5 industry partners from across Europe to create a platform for intersectoral and multidisciplinary mobility and training.
Your Role
As a PhD student in this project, you will work on characterizing the structure-permeability relationship of macrocycles using molecular dynamics simulations and comparing with NMR data. You will also develop novel conformation- and environment-dependent 3D descriptors based on MD simulations and refine machine learning models for permeability prediction for macrocycles.
Secondments and Training
You will have the opportunity to participate in secondments at top-ranking European universities and industry partners, as well as customized research projects, structured interdisciplinary local and network-wide transferable skills training activities.
Requirements
To be eligible for this position, you should hold a M.Sc. in chemistry, computational chemistry, or physics. Experience with machine learning and/or biomolecular simulation is highly advantageous, as is proficiency in English and good communication skills.
Salary and Benefits
This position comes with a competitive salary of around CHF 50,000 per annum, plus additional benefits such as health insurance, paid vacation time, and access to our state-of-the-art research facilities.
