Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity to advance your knowledge in applied physics and engineering? CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is offering a PhD programme that will give you the chance to work on your thesis while being part of a unique and world-renowned research organisation.

As a doctoral researcher at CERN, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects in fields such as applied physics, IT, mathematics, and engineering. You will be part of a dynamic and international team of researchers and engineers who are pushing the boundaries of science and technology.

To qualify for this programme, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State.
  • You have started or are about to start a doctoral programme in a university.
  • Your work at CERN is all or part of the thesis work required to obtain your PhD.
  • You have a good knowledge of English or French.

As a doctoral researcher at CERN, you will receive a contract of association for 6 months initially, renewable up to 3 years. You will also receive a monthly allowance of 3868 Swiss Francs (net of tax), a travel allowance, and a supplement if you are married and/or have children. You will also be covered by CERN's comprehensive Health Insurance scheme.
