Your Responsibilities

CERN's Electronics Production and Radiation Tolerance section is seeking a skilled Radiation Effects Testing Engineer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing and qualifying electronic components and systems to be used in harsh environments like the CERN accelerators.

About the Role

The Radiation Effects Testing Engineer will play a key part in advancing testing support within the CHARM and CC60 facilities. This includes applying expertise in dosimetry, radiation detection, and monitoring, as well as driving research and development of new measurement technologies and detectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support users at the CHARM and CC60 facilities throughout the testing process.
  • Develop new measurement technologies and detectors for complex mixed-field radiation environments.
  • Enhance dosimetry practices for tests conducted at the CHARM and CC60 facilities.
  • Participate in the development of new radiation detectors for integrated monitoring devices.

Your Profile

We are looking for a skilled Radiation Effects Testing Engineer with expertise in radiation measurement and dosimetry, detector technology, and particle detection. Experience in experimental setups preparation and exploitation, as well as data analysis and Python programming, is also an asset.

Eligibility Criteria

  • You are a national of a CERN Member State.
  • You have a professional background in Electronics, Nuclear Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field, and either a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
  • You have never had a CERN fellowship or graduate contract before.
